The genesis
Jacques, CathAm’s stylist, is also a visual artist and an art history teacher.
On his desk sit a portrait of Rembrandt and a print by Hokusai. The lace ruff worn by both men and women in the early 17th century, along with the sumptuous lacquered hair ornaments, provide the initial spark.
We want to create a stole that forms a beautiful crinkled, pleated effect around the neck without covering the shoulders, its balance achieved through rods inserted into the fabric. The initial sketches follow this idea.
After the first trials, Catherine suggests replacing the rods with a drawstring. La Séduisante is born.
