A material with character
Raw silk is produced in two different ways: either by carding the double cocoons of the Bombyx Mori, or by reeling the naturally irregular thread of other silk worms, such as the Antheraea.
Raw silk fabric is easily recognized by its stunning texture. Irregular and full of character, much like life itself, its contemporary and distinctive look is why it is often celebrated by the top haute couture designers.
Our raw silk is also woven very tightly, which gives it remarkable body and structure. The material’s inherent sculptural quality allows CathAm creations to reach their full potential.
And of course, the colors… Silk naturally brings colors to life, and ours have an extra touch thanks to a moiré effect. Before weaving, we select two different colors for the warp and the weft threads, which is why the color shifts depending on the angle of view.
